CCTVal researchers conducted collaborative visit to CERN.

As part of the international collaboration between the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN, and the Scientific and Technological Center of Valparaiso, CCTVal, the construction of the parts prototypes for the ATLAS experiment was started. Known as the biggest in human history, the Large Hadron Collider is a large scale project – a 27 Kilometer, ring shaped particle accelerator located inside an underground tunnel, close to the French-Swiss border – which pretends to give answers to questions about the beginning of the Universe and its make-up.

High School students visit the USM to learn about the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with CCTVal

In the activity known as “International Masterclass, Hands on Particle Physics”, students from six schools from the Valparaiso Region were able to enjoy of a virtual visit to the ATLAS experiment´s control room and learn hands on about the work carried out by Particle Physicists.

CERN Committee visits team collaborating with the construction of ATLAS upgrade´s TGCs

The Scientific and Technological Center (CCTVal for its Spanish acronym), within the International collaboration framework with the ATLAS Upgrade project, belonging to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN for its French acronym), welcomed an official delegation to its headquarters located at the Santa Maria University in Valparaiso. This delegation was composed of 7 researchers working and leading worldwide production for the ATLAS project.
